Salon 3

Salon 3 was founded over 30 years ago by Yvonne Karran and Janet Lancaster. Led by director and qualified training assessor, Janet Lancaster, Salon 3 invests in outstanding training opportunities for its team to develop their skills and provide excellent service to its clients. In addition to supporting its team to become fully qualified hairdressers through NVQ courses at the Isle of Man College, Salon 3 offers unique training opportunities delivered by leading hairdressers from the UK. Of particular note is Salon 3's participation in the prestigious Young Artistic Team (YAT) training program delivered by the global hairdressing business, Schwarzkopf. The YAT program includes a competition where 6 young hairdressers are deemed to be the best in the British Isles and win a year of amazing training and development opportunities with Schwarzkopf in London. After more than 10 years of competing in the YAT competition, 2022 saw Salon 3's Caitlin Trenholme being selected as one of the top 6. This was a first for an Isle of Man salon and an incredible accolade for Caitlin, Salon 3 and the Isle of Man's hairdressing and wider business community. Caitlin has already had some unforgettable experiences and is a wonderful ambassador for the Isle of Man.

WINNER: Zurich

Zurich has been at the heart of the Island’s financial sector since 1982. Today, as the company celebrates its 40th year in business here, there are more than 300 employees working at Zurich House at Isle of Man Business Park. At local and group level, Zurich makes a promise to provide all employees with growth and learning opportunities, and to inspire and value the essential work of all colleagues as a truly global community of experts, joined by a common purpose. That means a strong commitment to personal and professional development, diversity and inclusion, plus support for mental and physical wellbeing. Playing an active role in the communities in which Zurich employees live and work – and the mutual benefits that brings – is another key factor which makes Zurich the employer of choice in its sector. In August this year Zurich’s #40gives40 saw employees volunteering to carry out 40 random acts of kindness across the Island. That’s a great example of how Zurich puts into practice its promise to help people to work together to create a brighter future.
