This year's finalists

Manx Care Advice and Liaison Service (MCALS)

MCALS was established as a pilot in August 2021 and was made permanent as part of Manx Care in March 2022. MCALS fields concerns and queries from service users, carers and families as wide-ranging from wanting to know appointment dates, to advice on dealing with navigating the health system, signposting, complaints, accessing the formal complaints service, and offering a listening service to the public. MCALS reach 7,000 service users each year and has managed to respond to concerns and enquiries 87% of the time meaning service users no longer have to wait for long times to receive answers. Due to quick response times, MCALS have reduced pressure on other teams. Working across many different sectors, they are one of the most integrated teams on the island.

Established two years ago, Crimson Panda are a customer-first HR and people consultancy business specialising in bespoke outsourcing and specialised HR solutions. We are driven by a collective passion for a new way of delivering HR (People), and a new way of delivering People Consultancy, ‘amplify, grow, and unleash’. Crimson Panda are most proud of ‘creating a workplace where people thrive’, other achievements include; Acquiring 50 clients globally, Implementing 9 HR systems, Donating £30k to local charities, Building a LinkedIn community of over 8000, NPS score of 73

The Front Porch

The Front Porch opened in May 2019 and has become one of the busiest bars in Douglas. Surviving numerous lockdowns, social distancing measures and limited government support - the team have created a hub of activity on Duke Street. It is the Islands first, and only, Country Music Sports Bar offering well-priced comfort food and bespoke moonshine cocktails. In the last 12 months, the business has generated impressive turnover and excellent profit and has collaborated with other local businesses including Outlier Distillery to create a Front Porch Moonshine. Rikki Dunnage and Ed Cox are both founders and Directors of the operation and pride themselves on being ‘hands-on’ business leaders.
